WHO SHOULD READ THE RAPID RELIEF SERIES? EVERYONE!


Book 1: Rapid Relief Rvised

    Who should read Rapid Relief? Anyone who suffers from hurt, dissatisfaction, jealousy, fustration, resentment, helplessness, hopelessness, demoralization, anger, guilt, shame, anxiety, depression and those people who are distressed over work, love, money, health, and a host of other problems (known as the walking wounded) should benefit from reading Rapid Relief. You may be able to get up each day, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, eat dinner, and go to bed, but if you're in psychological pain and you would like to learn the necessary steps to get rid of all those negative affects, you will want to read this book.

    You may believe that you need something outside of yourself to change in order to get relief (" I need to have my job back "; " I need her to love me "; " I need to get myself to stop drinking "), but actually it's your need to change reality that brings about your pain in the first place. Removing this " need for self, situation or other to be different " eliminates the pain.

    How you love, work, and play dependson wether you operate from a system focused on the need for self, situation or others to be different or from a system where you create what you want by means of choice, movement, or selection. Let go of the belief that you must change yourself, others, or the world, and you will eliminate much of your stress and distress. Once you decide to design your life by choice, you make a quantum leap into a richer, more satisfying life.

    Rapid relief is possible! Psychological pain is optional! Most people have major life problems: divorces, bankruptcies, deaths of loved ones, failed hopes and dreams. How quickly one switches out of thier distress isn't related to the preceived magnitude of their life problem, but rather to how quickly they can get into a state of acceptance, and out of a state of need. Getting out of need does not solve the life problem immediately, but it does stop the psychological pain related to the perception of need.

    Some people with major losses (e.g., death of a spouse) can eliminate their distress relatively quickly; others with minor problems (a job they dislike)may take much longer. But no matter what the emotional distress, once we begin to create our live by becoming aware and making choices, we get relief from the psychological pain.



Book 2: Psychotherapy In a Pharmacological World?

    Who should read Psychotherapy In a Pharmacological World? This book was written with physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, counselors, therapists [anyone who does therapy or wishes to understand therapy in a simple framework] and for anyone wanting to understand the psychological complaints people have. It is written simple enough that the lay person shouldn't have any trouble reading or understanding the principals presented. Most of the recommendations are written at a very low level of abstraction. What this means is that if you try what is bewing suggested you will most likely experience the benefit. It does not take years of therapy to achive the outcome because most things are products of choice, something that can occur very quickly.

    If you are a therapist and would like a quicker way to help people, this may be an approach that you find both simple and quick. It is based on low level abstraction concepts (meaning if you try it you will generally see a rather immediate outcome).

    If you are a busy medical doctor and you would like a rather simple way in which to look at your patient's psychological problems, you will find the concepts here much more user friendly than the psychiatry 101 you may haver taken in medical school. Most of my patients understand immediately what I am talking about and they relate to the concepts quickly.

    Even thoughthis was written with therapists in mind, individuals who want to understand the background of a mental health recommendation may find this book informative  to them. It is a rather simple model to understand people's behavior. There are a large number of approaches to therapy. This book follows the thinking that shows how this form of therapy was born. It is a patient driven approach to treatment, not a doctor driven approach.



Book 3: 

    This book is being directed to teachers of all kinds. Anyone who teaches others, including parents, can benefit from reading this book. Teachers play a pivotal roll in the education of childtrn and adults. There are basic principles of living that could be taught in the classroom that would not take much time from teachers; in fact, I expectthat because these concepts will reduce conflict in the school enviroment, it very well might give the teachers more time to teach. This book is not about what teachers should teach, but about how the way teachers teachcan make major differences in their student's lives.

    In my practice of psychiatry (child, adolescent, and adult) I find on a daily basis that I have to teach children and parents (adults) things they should have been learning from about the age of five. Because they are not getting that information they make mistakes in addressing the problems of life that they likely would not have made if they had a little more information.

    It has always been my point of view that a lot of people's problems are related to not knowing how to get a different, or better, outcome deom the one they are experiencing. I look first at what is the person missing in their approach to the problems they are having rather than seeing the problem as a psychiatric diagnosis. Unfortunately, to have insurance pay for the visits a doctor must frame the issue in a way the insurance entity will accept. In my experience, people when given a few ideas, or concepts related to the problems they are having, will then go forth and solve the problems.

    This book is about the type of things that teachers can do in the process of their teaching to help individuals not create psychiatric problems for themselves. After all, if we don't create a problem, then we do not have to solve the problem; that translates into a conservation of energy on all fronts.
