James Campbell, M.D. was born in farm country in Central Western Illinois. He graduated co-valedictorian from Warsaw High School; then he went to MacMurray Collegein Jacksonville, Ill.for three years before being accepted to Univ.of Iowa, University of Ill, and St. Louis University Medical schools. He chose to go to St. Louis Univ.and then to Michael Reese in Chicago for one year of a medical internship and his basic three-year adult psychiatric residency training. In 1971, after a tour in the Air Force, he set up a private practice in Phoenix, Arizona where he, his wife 2 Arabian horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats reside.
My Work
Because of the rapid turnover of patients in Dr. Campbell's office, an outcome of the use of rapid relief principles, he decided to extend the nature of his practice by taking a two-year child fellowship at UCLA. It was there that he met Dr. Gary Emery who he later collaborated with to write the original Rapid Relief from Emotional Distress.
My Community
Dr. Campbell is married to Sharon in a blended family composed of his sons Paul and Justin and her daughter Lori. Doctor’s office (ran successfully by Sharon) is retiring after 52 years in June of 2023. Sharon and Dr. Campbell enjoy horse, dog and cat activities; travel locally and outside the country; music and good movies.
